Upcoming Global Changes to Salad & Deli Bar
Global Changes to Salad & Deli Bar:
A Message from Joel Mertens, Chief of Operations
Hello Team!
Wow, working with a tech company can be a wild ride. There is so much different in what we do daily than in my past career working in restaurants.
Our menus working with Meta for example. Our menus change every day! Our guests (and ourselves) are able to eat amazing meals for free while working! There are Soooo many options for things for our guests to choose from.
One thing I think about every day is what a cool opportunity we have to be serving our guests here in these amazing spaces. Guests who are essentially, creating the future! Some of the tech that we see that Meta and Reality labs are making all around us, is literally changing the world. Meta is not just Facebook and Instagram and social media. They are one of the absolute leading companies in inventing, building, and releasing amazing new technology and devices into the world we all live in!
Essentially, Lavish and all of our team members are fueling the future by fueling the inventors, engineers, coders, and everyone else that we see daily. By showing amazing hospitality and being that welcoming presence when a guest comes into a cafe, by creating great tasty food every day, we ARE really influencing a guest's workday and allowing them to do be productive in the jobs they need to do.
Another thing I think about every day is change. When working with a tech company as our client, the asks for what we're providing can change daily based on the needs and direction the company is headed in. For those of you who don't know, we are essentially "hired" (contracted) by Meta Global Culinary to provide the service we provide every day. They provide the direction and menus to us that Meta as a company is looking for to fuel their nourishment needs, and that can shift at times.
We will start to see some of those changes in the coming weeks as the current direction is really looking at streamlining offerings across the globe to be more consistent and match from Cafe to Cafe, Region to Region, and Country to Country! Meta's focus right now is to really highlight what makes the food program at Meta stand out. And that's the hospitality and warm spaces and environments that our Experience team provides, and the amazing food that our welcoming chefs and cooks prepare and serve daily. They want these areas to really be the focus, while still offering other options for those in a hurry or looking more for a salad or quick bite because they can't wait in line.
So, with that, there will be some changes to cut back on some of the items in Harvest that we prep and serve every day. Not in the volume of what we are providing but limiting the selections more so that we are allowing our teams to really focus on what really makes Meta's Culinary program stand out!
You'll get more info and details soon on what this means for your specific cafe you work in, but I felt it was important to reach out ahead of time to let you know and maybe help you understand some where the changes are coming from, and that it's a focus and alignment that will allow us to keep pushing forward!
Thank you all for all you do!
Joel Mertens, Chief of Operations

About the Learn Courses: A Message from Joel
Hello everyone!
2024 Learn Course Trainings are out from Meta. For those of you who know already, these online course trainings from Meta are a requirement by Meta that each of us completes in order for our badges to continue to be active. These absolutely need to be completed by 10.17.
Some of you may have already completed, and if so, thank you so much! About 20% of our team has done so so far!
For those that haven't, please search your emails for an email from noreply@learning.facebookmail.com and follow the instructions to access and complete your course. Sometimes this ends up in your junk folder so please check there as well.
When team members or leaders do not complete these on time, there is a very good chance that their badge will be turned off. When leaders or team members who have Meta issued equipment (phone or laptop) do not complete these by the due date, your access to your device is shut off AND your badge is shut off.
We don't want that to sound to scary, but do want to make sure it doesn't happen.

These courses are currently only available in English from Meta, but if you are having trouble completing, please talk to one of your managers and they can help!
If you can't find the email, you can also use this link https://facebook.csod.com/login/render.aspx?id=defaultclp make sure you click badge only if you do not have Meta issued phone and laptop. You may need to follow the instructions for resetting your passwored.
Please feel free to reach out if you have questions or if you have trouble getting logged in etc!
Thank you everyone!
The email should look like this:

Credit Where Credit is Due: A Message from Riley
This last Thursday, all five Bellevue cafes were inspected by the King County Health Department. Each cafe passed their inspections with flying colors! Not a single violation at any cafe! All the credit should go to our wonderful Team Members. Dishwasher teams, Experience Teams, line cooks, prep crews, pastry gang, admins, and the receiving team all came together to make this possible. Our chef teams did an excellent job working to keep their teams and each other accountable to our food safety program here at Lavish Roots. Our logs and TAC cards were properly filled out, the kitchens and walk-in coolers were clean and organized, with all products clearly labeled. This goes to show that if we all work together towards a common goal, we can achieve great things!
I am looking forward to maintaining this standard of excellence in all of our cafes. It fills me with a sense of pride that we have such a great team here in Bellevue. Way to go y’all!
