Chef B Receives Two Honors in One Week
American Academy of Chefs
On Friday February 3rd, Chef Brandon received word that he will be inducted into the American Academy of Chefs in July. The honor society of ACF, the American Academy of Chefs (AAC) represents the highest standards of professionalism in the organization, society and industry. The Academy’s primary mission is to promote the education of all culinarians by mentoring culinarians, awarding scholarships to students seeking a future in the culinary industry, and by providing grants to professional working chefs looking to further their career. Out of more than 22,000 ACF members, approximately 850 belong to the AAC. Demanding criteria must be met to be elected to the AAC, including: certification at a level of executive chef/pastry chef or higher; no less than 15 years culinary experience; an ACF member in good standing for a minimum of 10 consecutive years or more; and sponsorship by two AAC members. Honorary fellows are first nominated by AAC members, and then selected by a committee. A formal ceremony and dinner will take place at the 2023 ACF National Convention at the Marriott Warehouse Arts District Hotel, New Orleans, Louisiana on July 18, 2023.
Humanitarian of the Year
On Monday February 6th at the Washington State Chefs Association annual President's Dinner, Chef Brandon was awarded "Humanitarian of the Year” for 2022. Chef Brandon's work with first responders, local area food banks, and culinary schools were some of the areas that were highlighted during the award ceremony.
